Wow! Superb location with a semi-private beach! Staff was very helpful and kind. We traveled with our 1 year old and they made everything very easy for us. Breakfast was excellent too.

Breakfast finished a bit early (we would have taken some extra time). Restaurant's prices are very steep (but to be expected). Food was very good for both meals.

Amazing, definitely coming back

Food was delicious - the grill and the marinade, chefs kiss! Amazing service - the staff remembered our toddler's name and were so friendly. She loved the staff. The room was huge, we got complimentary pasteis de nata and sparkling wine on arrival, and plenty of free bottled water.

We visited during shoulder season (November) so the resort wasn't fully staffed. The kids club was parent accompanied.

Lovely hotel. Great location.

The hotel is lovely. Great location to the beach. Lovely and clean. Staff are very helpful

There is only 1 heated pool out of the 6 they have. With that in mind, you’d think they had one of the bigger pools as heated. The only one was a small child’s pool. The hotel restaurants are very expensive. The service on our last night was poor and the food not great. The only option for a vegetarian was about 1kg of rice. The 2nd vegetarian option offered was fish. They have very funny rules in the gym/spa that you can only use a locker if you have a treatment booked. One morning I was the only person in there and still wasn’t allowed a locker. Not their fault but the local town isn’t what we hoped to see of Portugal there’s some gems of restaurants but you have to look hard.

Good stay. We enjoyed it but rooms were not as nice as expected and pools were cold

Loved the beach and location. Great amenities and great staff! We had the best customer service!

We got a garden view room with no dresser table and a damaged carpet in the middle of the room. It was spacious but it was so empty. Simple decorations can make a big difference We requested a different room and we paid extra to get a smaller room but it was cozy and had a dresser for extra storage space, Please put dressers in these empty rooms. It feels cold and uncomfortable. The large pools were cold and no real jacuzzi.

The grounds were so beautiful with lovely landscaping. Access to the ocean was perfect. Several pools to choose from. Really good restaurants on site. Breakfast was delicious. Staff was outstanding

everything was perfect breakfast, rooms - big, clean, with a huge balcony, pools - there 5 of them, spa is amazing, reception fast and very helpful, free parking and free buggy if you need it. Very nice location and amazing property.

Perfect location for a family break.

We were put in one of the hotel’s newly refurbished suites and it was stunning. The decor was absolutely perfect and a huge upgrade on the rooms I have stayed in at Vilalara previously. It seems that the owners have made a significant effort to upgrade the property versus our last visit two years ago. The new interior at the Koala Club was beautiful and my two kids loved it. The outdoor furniture / plants on the deck at the pool next to the main restaurant were new and looked wonderful. Even the altered arrangement of the sun loungers down at the beach were a plus (offered a great view of the afternoon sunsets along the cliffs).

A very nice place.

The breakfast buffet is amongst the best I have experienced. The beach is nice, but getting a parasol and an armchair could be challenging. The rooms are large, nicely decorated, and quiet. The personnel is professional. The gardens are beautiful.

An absolute joy. We loved everything about this hotel!

The hotel was beautifully located on the cliffs of the sea with a very short walk through the resort to the beach. The food was delicious, the staff was friendly, and the room was huge and clean. The best part was that the beach, pools, and restaurants were never overcrowded meaning we could take advantage of any part of the resort at a whim. Although me and my husband don’t eat seafood, there were plenty of other options, though we both thought the included breakfast buffet with locally sourced food was the highlight of the meals!

It is not really in a town, but that only added to the sense of peace and calm. We did have a car to travel to nearby Carvoeiro one day.

We found this holiday to be very relaxing in pure comfort.

Breakfast was outstanding. The best quality and variety we have ever had in a hotel. Beach is beautiful & easily accessible. Great facilities. Felt relaxed at all times.

Kids club provided great activities for children over the age of 6. However, children are completely exposed to the sun when playing in the kids club play area which is a furnace. The hotel should consider creating shaded areas.

Overpriced, needs some updating, but beautiful nonetheless

The view and gardens of the hotel were beautiful. Loved being so close to the beautiful beach, the food was great, and the staff were excellent.

We usually give a 10 to the resorts we go to, and can’t wait to come back, but this resort is more like 8.5, it didn’t feel like a 5 start resort hotel. It’s called Thalassa Spa, but there’s no heated indoor pool, apart from one you can only go in if you do a specific treatment, or class. There’s no jacuzzi to relax in. Also therooms need some refurbished, there’s a plastic rug everywhere, the skirtings and tiles are a bit rusty, especially in the bathrooms, there’s no soft headboards to the bed, it’s all made of wall, also the nightstands, so we kept bumping our heads in the wall, as it’s pillows and then wall. On our last day, we wanted to still enjoy the pool after checkout, but the resort doesn’t have a nice shower room for guests after they check out, like other 5 star resorts have. It was more like a public shower that wasn’t clean and fancy… so we avoided it. Also the breakfast ends at 10:30 am, however there’s not enough room there, so if you go to breakfast at 10 am, there will be a long queue to get a seat, and then a long queue for the omelets. This can be easily fixed by extending breakfast to 11 am, like in many resorts. The kids club was very dull didn’t really have enough programs, and the ones that they did have got cancelled often, since there weren’t enough kids. Which makes sense, as the kids club isn’t that thrilling for the children, so not many fancy joining it. Other resorts had many more interesting activities, great and larger facilities, arcade, shows, songs with the kids. The kids club facilities were very small, too stuffy, and the playground is in the sand, and not shaded. Other resorts we’ve been to had more staff in the kids club that really engaged with the kids. There are no water slides for the kids as well. There’s no entertainment in the evening, not even a hotel lobby with some music and a nice bar to sit in. Only overpriced restaurants.

Our 6 night stay at the Vilalara Resort was a 5 star experience - great hotel, location and staff

We usually only stay at 5 Star hotels for our holidays and everything at the Vilalara Resort met its 5 star rating. The breakfast was exceptional - with lots of variety and choice. The staff was very pleasant and helpful at all times and had a smile each time. Thanks to the whole Breakfast Team. The Pools and general facilities at the resort were also fantastic. We spent a great deal of time at the pool side - which was very peaceful and relaxing. Rakesh the pool side attendant was brilliant - always helpful with a smile each time. We also visited the Spa / Health / Gym - which were again excellent - very clean / comfortable / lovely staff. The beach is nearby was a lovely and a great place to visit at the end of each day to unwind further. The rooms were very comfortable, clean and attended to daily. The hotel grounds were kept well - with beautiful gardens filled with exotic plants everywhere. Absolutely wonderful and very pleasing as you walked about. We would like to especially mention the Hotel Reception team led by Pedro Fonseca - they were absolutely brilliant, always very helpful with great suggestions to local restaurants / sites to visit and real credit to the hotel - which is why we will recommend it to all our friends and perhaps book again for next year - thankyou everyone. Overall - we would say particularly thanks to ALL the staff at the Vilalara Resort - they are all professional, helpful and always happy to meet and greet - our congrats to the leadership team.
